Garden Pests

However, sometimes unwanted animals can cause damage when they visit.
Ants: Can be a nuisance in lawns by creating sand/soil heaps
Mice: Love to eat peas, strawberries and other vegetables, breed quickly and can find their way into homes
Moles: Cause damage to lawns if left untreated
Rats: Try to deter rats from the garden, remove any build-up of rubbish and do not feed birds at ground level
Squirrels: Mostly cute and entertaining but can eat fruit and vegetables and strip bark from trees, and compete with birds for the food you leave out
Wasps: Nests can be in the ground, in or under sheds and in trees and bushes. They are good pollinators and reduce insect populations
but may become aggressive and especially a problem for people with an allergic reaction to stings.
If you have problems with any of the above pests, then firstly try contacting your local council otherwise get help from a local pest control specialist.
